Where this sector stands
Textiles are named in the ESPR Working Plan for 2025 to 2030. A passport requirement applies only once the delegated act for the product group is adopted and applies.
The delegated act for textiles is expected in 2027, with the passport indicated for 2028 to 2029. Brands will pass data requests to their suppliers first, so suppliers should expect to be asked before the rules are final.
Indicative only. The delegated act will define the data fields for textiles, so this page names none. Check EUR-Lex for the current status of each act.
What to prepare now
The delegated act will define the data requirements, and they are not final. These steps do not depend on them.
Map products and suppliers
Identify which product lines are likely in scope and which suppliers, at which tier, sit behind each one.
Collect from tier 2 and 3
Ask upstream suppliers for the data and documents they already hold, through a secure link instead of email.
Track evidence and validity
Keep certificates and test reports linked to what they support, with their expiry dates.
Set up approvals
Decide who approves each value, so every entry has a named reviewer and a date.
Indicative timeline
None of these dates is fixed in law. They come from the Commission's timetable and other sources, and other sources place some dates a year earlier or later. Calendar last checked on 31 October 2026.
This page explains the regulations in general terms and is not legal advice. AuditSci is a technology platform and does not certify conformity. Responsibility for conformity stays with the economic operator.

Questions
When will textiles need a Digital Product Passport?
No date is fixed in law yet. The delegated act is expected in 2027 and the passport is indicated for 2028 to 2029. Other sources place some dates a year earlier or later, so check EUR-Lex for the current status.
What information will a textile passport contain?
The delegated act under the ESPR will define it. We do not list fields here because they are not final.
Why start before the rules are final?
Textile data sits with suppliers across several tiers, and collecting it takes time. Mapping products and suppliers and running one pilot line through collection and approval lets you adjust to the final act instead of building the process then.
